S.D. Democratic Club endorses Peters for city attorney

The San Diego Democratic Club endorsed City Council President Scott Peters for city attorney at its meeting Thursday night.
Peters received 39 votes on the second ballot, with current City Attorney Michael Aguirre getting seven votes. There were 15 votes for no endorsement.
On the first ballot, where no one received the necessary 60 percent, Peters got 47 votes, Aguirre received 17 and consumer attorney Amy Lepine got six. A total of 12 voted not
to endorse.
The San Diego Democratic Club is an advocate for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.
Peters, Aguirre and Lepine are running against Republicans Jan Goldsmith and Brian Maienschein in the June 3 primary.
