Peters Makes a Strong Showing in Second Reporting

San Diego - City Council President Scott Peters today said he was very happy with the the broad diversity and number of contributors who have given to his campaign for City Attorney because they are people who "know and care about San Diego, and believe I am the most qualified to restore ethics, integrity and competence to the City Attorney's office."

 

"Contributors to Scott's campaign include large and small business owners, teachers, librarians, philanthropists, health care workers, scientists, leaders in the arts and biotech communities, and lawyers," said MaryAnne Pintar, Peters' campaign manager.  "The attorneys who support Scott are from among San Diego's leading law firms, the County Counsel's office and the U.S. Department of Justice, many of whom have worked with Scott and know the strength of his character and quality of his legal skills," said MaryAnne Pintar,

 

Among Scott's contributors are: Philanthropist Andrew Viterbi; arts & culture icon Iris Strauss, biotech leaders Ivor Royston and Gregory Lucier; Qualcomm Chairman Irwin Jacobs; Managing Partner of Baker, McKenzie Chuck Dick; Founder of the Princeton Review, John S. Katzman; Retired City Clerk Charles Abdelnour; President of the San Diego County Taxpayers Association Lani Lutar.

 

"These are people who know, love and want what's best for San Diego," Pintar said. "That's why they are supporting Scott for City Attorney."

 

The campaign has raised $104,000 in about 10 weeks. The campaign's first contribution was received on March 6. The campaign disclosure reports filed with the City Clerk today showed money raised through March 22.

 

Also among Scott's contributors are Retired Lutheran minister Harvey S. Peters (Scott's father), and Scott's mother, Ruthann, who listed her occupation as "Homemaker and Heartbreaker!"
